I am lucky I got to work through some origins of my coping mechanisms (including people pleasing) with a lovely therapist. I am still in my “courageous stumbling” phase of self-love and boundaries. And could relate so much to the “coming across a bit too aggressive” when trying to set boundaries - to a point where I go into warrior mode defensiveness before even having put up a flag and declared a boundary 😅 You actually helped me seeing it more clearly and a bit more gentle now - so to say “it’s kind of normal”, simply play with it and apologise when needed 🤍
Love, love love this! Did anyone ever tell you you're great at giving advice! 😜 The whole "not knowing what my wants or needs are" really resonates with me. And also. Therapy. I want to do therapy. 💛
“..actually feel love for yourself..”. Therapy can be a mirror about co-dependence as you discovered. I didn’t throw up in my mouth. I love this prompt of self-love and daily list of awesomeness! Maggie. Thank you!!!!
I like this episode! And yes, it is hard, especially growing up in a rough time where you were forced to do things or want to make things happy. It takes time by telling yourself what you need and to just not do things for others for your peace.
Just caught up. Love the practical therapeutic ideas infused with the refreshingly foul language.
My, my. This made me LOL like you wouldn't believe 😂
Love this! I will definitely put these steps into my daily routine. Thank you Maggie.
You're welcome! I'm so glad you like them 😊
Great piece Maggie :)
Thank you ❤️

Thanks, Maggie.
You're welcome. I still struggle with it too, at times. It's ok, we live, we learn ❤️

I'm so happy you liked it ❤️ Yep, therapy saved my life. Well that and travelling.
Thanks for this episode and every advice you gave to.
One month without don't do anything for others. 😱 It's a huge challenge! I'll go for it.
It changed my life 😊 Happy you enjoyed it ❤️
Alone time helps.
I, too, am a recovering people-pleaser
Self love or alone time is good, but if your cat or dog is around, are you alone…?
Yes and no.
Great episode Maggie! I really like the phrase “insufferable positivity whore” and I’m going to work to get it into my vocabulary.
Haha love it, please tell me when you've used it!!
'UNTIL LIFE KICKED ME IN THE BOOBS'
But it did! 😂
I like the thing about telling people that they're making it sound like your feelings aren't valid, etc. That gets to the Heart of a lot!
Yep, and even better: it's the truth!
I’m not done…I can write what I want?!!! I can write what I need?!!! I have permission to do that?!!! And it’s free?!!!!
You can!!

Ahh I'm happy you didn't throw up in your mouth 😂 Never thought I'd write that here!

Yep, I understand. Happy it resonated ❤️ (well, you know what I mean)
